Horsepower Rankings: Michigan
1. Carl Edwards No crazy rear end housing tricks or oil reservoir cover shenanigans (that we know of) and the 99 is still a top-10 car in nine of the last 10 races.
2. Dale Earnhardt Jr. Is everyone satisfied now?
3. Kasey Kahne Kahne Kept A Rollin’. Make it three wins and a runner-up in the last four.
4. Kyle Busch Just because we haven’t seen it over the last two weeks doesn’t mean it isn’t there. Yes, he’s still every bit as dangerous.
5. Jeff Burton For those keeping score that’s 21 top-15 finishes in a row for Burton dating back to last October at Charlotte.
6. Matt Kenseth Officially a threat once again, Kenseth earned his fifth consecutive finish of seventh or better with a third-place showing at Michigan.
7. Jimmie Johnson Team Lowe’s is right where it needs to be after a third-straight top-10 finish. Can’t afford the annual late summer slide this year, though.
8. Greg Biffle If these guys didn’t shoot themselves in the foot every other week I swear they’d be champions by now.
9. Denny Hamlin No longer on his Spring tear, Hamlin hangin’ in at sixth in the point standings.
10. Jeff Gordon A good run on the road this weekend would go a long way here.
11. Tony Stewart Tony rebounds with a fifth-place showing at Michigan following a pitiful month’s worth of outings.
12. David Ragan Fitting in well with the Roush philosophies. That’s doesn’t necessarily mean much for the Sonoma trip, but he’s making his money on the intermediates.
13. Brian Vickers Suddenly looks like a sexy darkhorse pick to make the Chase, but he can ill afford any bad luck.
14. Mark Martin Burned in a fuel mileage duel once again. Top 5 to 25th hurts, but doesn’t that just seem to sum up Martin’s career?
15. Kevin Harvick Hanging around but not making much noise. Where’s the fire, guys?
Just off the lead pack: Martin Truex Jr., Travis Kvapil, Elliott Sadler, Jamie McMurray, Clint Bowyer.
