COMPLIMENTARY CARCASS
For years, the Seahawks have played the same Thanksgiving Day prank on their rookies, but somehow it never gets old. The week before the holiday, veterans pass out “coupons” for a free turkey or ham at a Seattle market. There’s no such giveaway, of course, but most of the greenhorns fall for it. Last week, the vets clued in the market manager to the hoax, and when cornerback Josh Wilson (a hero on Sunday with his kickoff return TD) showed up to claim his freebie, he was presented with a picked-over turkey skeleton. Floyd “Pork Chop” Womack, however, saw some potential there. “You could do something with that,” decided the 330-pound guard. “You could make a soup at least.”

CONFERENCE CALL
Could it be that the AFC’s dominance is evaporating? The NFC holds a 25-23 edge so far, but the breakdown is interesting. Without Colts, Patriots and Ravens results, the NFC leads, 25-13. On the other hand, disregarding the Dolphins, Jets, Raiders and Broncos, the AFC has a 23-11 advantage.

Extra Points’ recurring installment of slapdash observation and imprudent opinion:

The 7-4 Browns are dead last in the NFL in yards and points allowed. And offensively, they aren’t in the top 10 in either passing or rushing yards.

Until Kolby Smith, another unheralded running back to make a splash this season, did it on Sunday, Larry Johnson had scored the Chiefs’ last 36 rushing TDs. That’s an NFL record.

The Vikings have scored six non-offensive TDs in their last two trips to Giants Stadium.

All hail Devin Hester, but...Remove his two touchdowns and his kickoff return average on his other 29 runbacks is 20.2, which would rank 84th in the NFL.
