Brown, who claimed the Eastern Conference honor, led the Cavs to a league-best 14-3 record during the month, including a 7-3 mark on the road and 7-0 at home. Cleveland's smothering defense held opponents to a NBA-low 93.0 points per contest in December and were tops in the East in field goal percentage (.487) and three-point field goal percentage (.390).
Hollins earned the Western Conference award by guiding the Grizzlies to a 9-4 record. Memphis posted key wins over Dallas, Cleveland and Denver during the course of the month. The teams' .692 winning percentage was good for sixth best in franchise history for a single month.
Other nominees for the award were Boston's Doc Rivers, Houston's Rick Adelman, New York's Mike D'Antoni, Oklahoma City's Scott Brooks, Orlando's Stan Van Gundy, Portland's Nate McMillan and Toronto's Jay Triano.
