Rankings as of Nov. 23, 2009
-
1

Orlando Magic (11-3) Last Week: 6
Jason Williams has stepped right in for Jameer Nelson, and Orlando has reeled off five straight. Division games with Miami and Atlanta will test the Magic this week, however.
-
2

Dallas Mavericks (10-3) Last Week: 7
The Mavs are on a roll after winning five straight of their own. Big victories over the Lakers, Rockets and Spurs also help to pad the resume.
-
3

L.A. Lakers (10-3) Last Week: 3
Pau is healthy, and the Lakers are back in business. With 25 points and nine boards in L.A.'s win over Oklahoma City, Andrew Bynum's ankle looked just fine, too.
-
4

Atlanta Hawks (11-3) Last Week: 2
The loss in New Orleans was a bummer, but seven straight wins over the likes of Denver, Boston, Portland, Miami and Houston prove the Hawks are no joke.
-
5

Cleveland Cavaliers (10-4) Last Week: 1
The Cavs have won seven of eight despite playing without Shaq for the last five. The lackluster effort in Washington aside, it appears LeBron & Co. are headed in the right direction.
-
6

Phoenix Suns (11-3) Last Week: 4
The league's highest-scoring team, Phoenix hasn't lost back-to-back games all season long. It's also shooting a league-best 44.4 percent from beyond the arc. Yep, the run-and-gun Suns are most definitely back.
-
7

Boston Celtics (10-4) Last Week: 5
The chemistry has been off thus far in Beantown, but perhaps KG's game-winner at MSG was just what the doctor ordered.
-
8

Milwaukee Bucks (8-3) Last Week: 12
Milwaukee keeps losing key players to injuries, but the wins haven't stopped with Brandon Jennings on the court. In fact, a two-point overtime loss to the Mavs is the only thing standing in the way of an eight-game winning streak.
-
9

Denver Nuggets (9-4) Last Week: 9
The schedule gets awfully soft for the Nuggets before Miami visits the Pepsi Center on Dec. 3.
-
10

Portland Blazers (10-5) Last Week: 10
Nate McMillan's Blazers have the best defense in the league; they've surrendered just 88.3 points per game.
-
11

Houston Rockets (8-6) Last Week: 11
The Rockets just keep rolling right along despite the T-Mac distractions. Key Southwest Division matchups with Dallas and San Antonio are next on the docket from the Toyota Center.
-
12

Miami Heat (8-5) Last Week: 8
Udonis Haslem's game-winner against New Orleans helped Miami snap a three-game losing streak.
-
13

Utah Jazz (7-6) Last Week: 20
Saturday's overtime win over Detroit gave the Jazz three straight wins for the first time this season.
-
14

Oklahoma City Thunder (7-7) Last Week: 13
This team is not going away despite the disappointing result in L.A. The youngsters from OKC need to regroup quickly as another test in Utah awaits.
-
15

Chicago Bulls (6-6) Last Week: 19
Chicago needs to buckle down as it wraps up a six-game road trip in Portland, Utah and Milwaukee.
-
16

San Antonio Spurs (5-6) Last Week: 15
Seems the Spurs are never at full strength. Still, it's good to get Tony Parker back. His battle with Brandon Jennings will be the game to watch tonight.
-
17

New Orleans Hornets (6-9) Last Week: 23
Rookies Darren Collison and Marcus Thornton have re-energized a team that appeared on the verge of collapse.
-
18

Indiana Pacers (5-6) Last Week: 14
Dahntay Jones, who has a reputation as a defensive stopper, is Indiana's second leading scorer with 17.4 points per game.
-
19

L.A. Clippers (5-9) Last Week: 21
Just when it appeared time to stick a fork in the Clippers and their coach, they pulled out a home win over the Nuggets.
-
20

Toronto Raptors (6-8) Last Week: 18
Despite an up-and-down start to the season, Toronto trails the eighth and final playoff spot in the East by just a half-game.
-
21

Philadelphia 76ers (5-8) Last Week: 22
The Sixers have dropped four of their last five. The silver lining? Elton Brand is coming along with averages of 19.7 points and 10.3 rebounds in his last three games.
-
22

Detroit Pistons (5-9) Last Week: 16
After five straight losses, Detroit is reeling and searching for an identity under first-year coach John Kuester.
-
23

Sacramento Kings (5-7) Last Week: 17
The Kings have followed up their four-game winning streak by losing three straight. The next five are winnable, but it would help to have a healthy Tyreke Evans.
-
24

Golden State Warriors (4-8) Last Week: 24
Friday's 108-94 win over Portland marked the first time this season the Warriors held an opponent under 100 points.
-
25

New York Knicks (3-10) Last Week: 29
After falling behind early, the Knicks let one get away Sunday afternoon against the Celtics. Still, two wins in three games shows progress. As does the decision to pass on A.I.
-
26

Memphis Grizzlies (4-9) Last Week: 25
Rudy Gay might be playing for himself these days, but his 21.8 points and 6.7 rebounds are helping Memphis pick off some wins along the way.
-
27

Washington Wizards (3-9) Last Week: 26
With just one win in nine games, the Wizards are searching for answers. Accusing your teammates of having "hidden agendas," as Gilbert Arenas did after an 18-point loss in San Antonio, cannot help to build trust.
-
28

Charlotte Bobcats (4-9) Last Week: 27
The 'Cats topped the 100-point mark for just the third time this season in Sunday's win over Indiana, and Stephen Jackson's 17.8 points per game already leads the team.
-
29

New Jersey Nets (0-13) Last Week: 28
Still winless after a missing an opportunity at home against the Knicks. Things don't get any easier with a four-game roadie up next.
-
30

Minnesota Timberwolves (1-12) Last Week: 30
The Wolves have dropped 12 straight games, but Kurt Rambis simply does not have the tools at his disposal to succeed. Kevin Love is still three weeks away from suiting up.
