12. Indiana Hoosiers
1 of 13
The traditional Hoosiers uniforms aren't all that special and have a distinct 2-10 feel to them. But the all whites shown here are very smooth, traditional and give Indiana a big school feel. These bizarro, metallic-striped helmets [17] will need to prove themselves on the field. And for the love of God, please don't ever wear the candy-striper football pants.

11. Minnesota Golden Gophers
2 of 13
Most every Golden Gopher uniform is tough to watch on TV. Which is why the program has made a concerted effort to upgrade the look and feel of their normally goofy purple and gold scheme. First, the new matte helmets look great. Second, using much less gold and much more white, the unis have a classier, tougher vibe to them now. They still have a long way to go from this [22], but Minnesota is certainly putting in the effort. And the ones shown here are downright mean looking.

10. Illinois Fighting Illini

The Big Ten may have the best uniforms in the nation, so even some of the league's worst are still pretty solid. Illinois easily has the busiest get-up in the league with tons of trim, large edgy stripes and plenty of alternate styles. The matte black helmets normally look amazing but these aren't some of the better ones [24]. Also the dark blues or white combination looks great (compared to anything with the Orange Crush hues).

10. Northwestern Wildcats

Northwestern tried something very unique last year with the old-school, Ivy League sweater look. The home purple tops and black pants whiffed hard and might be the worst looking duds in the league. But the home whites complete with purple stripes across the chest not only look awesome but are completely unique in all of college football.

8. Purdue Boilermakers

The black and gold combination offers a great foundation of color to work with and Purdue has gotten more creative with their uniforms over the last few seasons. The black pants look awesome with the white tops and gold helmets (shown). The Boilers also use black tops with gold pants most of the time at home, and those too have a classic look that conjures images of Drew Brees in the Rose Bowl.

7. Iowa Hawkeyes

The black and gold of Iowa is certainly different from the black and gold of Purdue, but both work extremely well. The classic look hasn't changed for the Hawkeyes in years and Kinnick Stadium looks amazing packed with matching fans. The yellow stands out extremely well against the all of the black and the the Hawkeye logo is one of the more unique and classic in all of college football. Just imagine how awesome a matte black helmet would look like with these?

6. Wisconsin Badgers
7 of 13
The Badgers sport one of the more traditional two-tone color schemes in the nation. The floating "W" has been tweaked over the years but the simple red tops and white pants with red stripes have remained constant for at least two decades. The all-white road uniforms are slick as well — much like Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama or Penn State. But when Wisconsin added the red pants to the mix — generally reserved for huge games [29], say, in the Rose Bowl — these diddies were taken to a new level.

5. Ohio State Buckeyes

Some don't like the black trim that has worked its way into the mix, but it is still hard to argue with the Buckeyes' classic look. The helmets are extremely simple but look great — especially, covered in Buckeye stickers. The classic red and silver scheme won't ever go out of style. It isn't the best get-up in the Big Ten but they look pretty damn good.

4. Michigan State Spartans

There is no weakness to the Spartans uniform. The logo and helmet are clean, classic and stylish. The green and white two-tone scheme is fantastic (as long as gold or black isn't added to the mix). And the green trim on the pants is just enough to be edgy for the young fans and traditional for the older ones. This is one of the most underrated uniforms in the nation.

3. Nebraska Cornhuskers
10 of 13
The Huskers' road uniforms might be the best in the nation. The helmet will never go out of style and it hasn't been changed in what seems like a century. The red pants mixed with the white tops is super stylish when combined with the red shoulder stripes and accents. The home red tops and white pants aren't quite as cool but are still one of the most fashionable outfits out there today.

2. Michigan Wolverines

It doesn't get much more stylish, famous or classic than the winged helmets of the Michigan Wolverines. The Maize and Blue color combination has been wildly popular for decades and the no-frills style will never be changed (hopefully). These uniforms stand out as some of the best in the history of the game and it's great that a school holds on to its tradition by keeping it simple.

1. Penn State Nittany Lions

If Michigan's uniforms deserve credit for their classic, simple and traditional styling, then Penn State's are the most fashionable in the nation. The dark navy blue and white look has been and will continue to be amazing for decades to come. The clean look occasionally will have white trim around the neck or arms, but rarely changes on game day. The numbers added to the side of the helmet also work well and give it an Alabama feel.
