Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout hit for the cycle on Tuesday night against the Mariners, becoming the youngest American League player in history to do so. Trout, who accomplished the feat at 21 years and 288 days old, struck out looking in the first before reaching on an infield single in the third, hitting a RBI triple in the fourth, adding a three-run double in the sixth and then blasting a solo home run in the eighth in the Angels' 12-0 rout at home. Trout passed former Mariner Alex Rodriguez (21 years, 313 days) as the youngest AL player to hit for the cycle and became the first Angel to do so since Chone Figgins on Sept. 16, 2006 at Texas. Trout also is the sixth-youngest player in MLB history to hit for the cycle and third-youngest since 1930. Hall of Famer Mel Ott holds the record for the youngest in history at 20 years and 75 days, when he hit for the cycle as a New York Giant in 1929.
