QB Tim Tebow, So, Florida
Heisman Trophy winner set an SEC record with 22 rushing touchdowns to go along with his 29 passing scores. Heads into bowl season ranked No. 2 in the nation in passing efficiency.
RB Darren McFadden, Jr, Arkansas
The two-time Heisman runner-up rushed for 100-plus yards nine times, including a 206-yard performance in the season-ending win at LSU.
RB Kevin Smith, Jr, UCF
Leading the nation in rushing with an astounding 2,448 yards and 29 touchdowns. Averaged 250 yards over his final four games.
WR Michael Crabtree, Fr, Texas Tech
Leads the nation in receptions per game (10.4) and receiving yards per game (155.0) as a redshirt freshman. Had five games with at least three touchdowns.
WR Jordy Nelson, Sr, Kansas State
Ranks second to Crabtree in receptions per game (13.1) and yards per game (133.8). Went for at least 80 yards in every game.
TE Travis Beckum, Jr, Wisconsin
Ranks second among tight ends with 6.0 catches per game. Each of his four 100-yard games came vs. top competition — Michigan State, Illinois, Ohio State and Michigan.
C Jonathan Luigs, Jr, Arkansas
Award the 2007 Rimington Trophy as the nation’s top center. Led an offensive line that helped pave the way for the SEC’s top rushing offense.
OL Jake Long, Sr, Michigan
Named the Big Ten’s top lineman in 2007 after earning the award last year as a junior. Only gave up one sack during the regular season.
OL Duke Robinson, Jr, Oklahoma
Mammoth left guard earned first-team All-Big 12 honors after leading the Oklahoma offensive line in knockdown blocks. The OU line has allowed a total of just 11 sacks in 12 games.
OL Kirk Barton, Sr, Ohio State
A four-year starter and two-time All-Big Ten pick has been a fixture at right tackle for the Buckeyes. Regarded as an outstanding pass blocker due to his mobility.
OL Ryan Clady, Jr, Boise State
Big tackle is a two-time, first-team All-WAC pick and a three-year starter for the Broncos. Has played a key role in the Broncos’ recent offensive success.
Defense
DL Glenn Dorsey, Sr, LSU
Beastly defensive tackle capped off his senior season by winning the Bronco Nagurski Award as the nation’s top defensive player, as well as the Outland Trophy, the Lombardi Award, and SEC Defensive Player of the Year.
DL Chris Long, Sr, Virginia
Son of NFL Hall of Famer Howie Long was a dominant force on a very good Virginia defense. Named the 2007 ACC Defensive Player of the Year after leading the league with 14.0 sacks.
DL Sedrick Ellis, Sr, USC
On of eight finalists for the Lott Award given to the top defensive player in the nation. Earned Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year honors after recording 52 tackles, including 12.5 for a loss.
DL George Selvie, So, South Florida
Played a key role in the Bulls’ emergence as a Big East title contender. Named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore. Heading into the bowl season, he leads all Division I-A players with 31.5 tackles for a loss.
LB Dan Connor, Sr, Penn State
Became the third straight Penn State Nittany Lion to be named the Bednarik Award winner as the nation’s top defensive player. Led the Big Ten with 136 tackles as a senior.
LB James Laurinaitis, Jr, Ohio State
Earned the 2007 Butkus Award as the nation’s top linebacker. Recorded 103 tackles for an Ohio State defense that currently leads the nation in total defense and scoring defense.
LB Jordon Dizon, Sr, Colorado
Native of Hawaii was recognized as the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year in 2007. Ranked second in the nation in tackles per game with 12.4.
CB Aqib Talib, Sr, Kansas
Electric athlete has led the Big 12 in passes defended for two straight years. Had 17 passes defended, including four interceptions as a senior. Also plays a little bit of offense for the explosive Jayhawks.
CB Antone Cason, Sr, Arizona
Named the 2007 Jim Thorpe Award winner as the nation’s top defensive back. Ended his four-year career at Arizona with 15 interceptions and 253 total tackles. Started all 46 games in his career.
S Kenny Phillips, Jr, Miami
Earned first-team All-ACC honors for the disappointing Hurricanes. Recorded a career-high 95 tackles and added two interceptions as a junior.
S Patrick Chung, Jr, Oregon
Earned first-team All-Pac-10 honors after ranking third in the league in tackles per game (9.2). He added two interceptions, one forced fumble and blocked two kicks.
Specialists
K Thomas Weber, Fr, Arizona State
Made 22-of-23 field goals en route to winning the Lou Groza Award as a redshirt freshman.
P Chris Miller, Jr, Ball State
Ranked third in the nation with a 45.82-yard average.
KR Felix Jones, Jr, Arkansas
Darren McFadden’s backup at tailback averaged 31.3 yards on 18 returns and scored two touchdowns.
PR Leodis McKelvin, Sr, Troy
Ranks fourth in the nation with a 17.4-yard return average and leads the nation with three punts returned for a touchdown.
AP Jeremy Maclin, Fr, Missouri
Earned first-team Big 12 honors as a wide receiver and kick returner, in addition to being named the league’s Offensive Freshman of the Year. Had 1,023 yards receiving, 349 yards rushing, 302 yards on punt returns and 1,039 yards on kickoff returns.
