RH LeighWell, You dont know it, but it was sprinkling raining in Oxford Last night. The field was wet, the footballs were wet, all the stadium seats were soaked, and the players hands must have been wet too (ole miss mostly). Ole Miss had about four fumbles, and two interceptions (one for a TD). I think Vandy had two fumbles, and I dont recall us intercepting any of their passes. Ole Miss got down to the one yard line two or three times, one time we fumbled, Vandy got it on the 20. Another time, we got it to the one yard line, and we went for it.We moved it about 12 inches, and did not score. Wished after then, we had kicked a field goal. We missed a perfect field goal that would have tied it, about 6 inches to the left. Even at the end, with like one minute left, we were fixing to score, moved the ball all the way down the field, and we ran out of time. That would have tied it, and an extra point would have won it. It was a good battle, we were by far, the better team, we just got beat. We did not get any breaks, and hardly any penalities, Vandy got every break, and we had a lot of penalities applied to us. Townsend and I went down to the game. We sat almost right down on the field. I love those seats. It was a great game, I never had the feeling we were going to lose the game, until there was like 1:30 minutes left and we were still down 6 points. I will have to admit our quarterback was off (Snead), he overthrew a bunch of passes, but I will have to admit, in his defense, the field was very slippery, he could never get his footing corrrectly placed, and he slipped down, several times. A quarter back, has to have his feet right or it messes up his throwing, thats what happened to us last night. I was proud of the game we played, I imagine we beat them on all stats, I dont know, but I imagine we did, we just got beat on the scoreboard.
