The Skinny
The two sport star finally chose Ohio State over PSU and Mich.
The Analysis
The obvious comparison to Vince Young comes from Pryor’s ability to glide when he runs. He is so smooth in the open field, and with his size, this dynamic playmaker is a terror to bring down. Most of the comparisons should stop there however. He does not have the arm strength of a Vince Young. Having said that, Pryor is great at keeping the play alive and giving his receivers a chance to work to the open field once coverages break down. His deep ball is not a thing of beauty but is accurate enough that, with his running ability, he will become a stellar college quarterback.
Against Aliquippa High School in this season’s WPIAL playoffs, he rushed 331 yards and five scores while throwing for 90 yards and two touchdowns. The next week, he followed it up with 142 yards passing, 158 yards rushing, two touchdowns, two kick returns for 65 yards, returned an INT 100 yards for a touchdown and registered a sack in Jeannette’s win over Wilmington.
He dominated at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl not only taking home game MVP honors but also claiming the U.S. Army High School National Player of the Year award. He once again proved that he is clearly the most dominant prospect in this class.
Pryor also became the first player in WPIAL football history to throw for 4,000 yards and run for 4,000 yards. The symmetry is actually rather astounding: 4,250 yards passing / 4,249 yards rushing.
