The Skinny

Spence is the third AC100 member from Northwestern High

The Analysis

Spence is a classic tweener. He has the body and size of a safety. He also has the athleticism of a defensive back. His playing experience at Miami-Northwestern and his mentality is that of a linebacker. He played a vast majority of the time at or around the line of scrimmage.

He has a solid frame with long arms. So the potential to bulk up and play weak-side linebacker is there, however, he would need to put on at least 20-30 pounds to reach that potential.

Spence has excellent reaction skills. He reads plays quickly and then uses great acceleration and pursuit skills to attack the play. Although he is only 190 pounds, he demonstrates some power and explosion between the tackles.

There is no question that he is a great athlete who can really run, and generally he is too quick for lineman in high school. He size is still an issue. Will he be able to out-quick or disengage from Division I-A offensive linemen? That remains to be seen.
