The Analysis
This two-way star could end up on either side of the ball for Dave Wannstedt. He is a solid prospect at either the defensive or offensive tackle position. He may be more ready to play as a defensive player but has more upside on offense. He has nice strength and initial burst off the football no matter what side he is on. He is a strong tackler and holds his ground very well. Strength is not the issue.
Nix might lack the athleticism and quickness to play anywhere on defense, however. For an offensive lineman, however, his athleticism is more than adequate. His power, strength and burst off the line of scrimmage translate very well to offense too. His technique on the offensive side of the ball needs more improvement than on defense, but he has all the necessary tools needed to develop into a good blocker. His strength will be in the running game initially, before truly refining his pass blocking skills.
