The Skinny
The Oklahoma commit could play running back or linebacker
The Analysis
Justin Johnson has almost all the tools necessary to be an elite running back at the next level. Johnson runs north-south and does not dance around too much. He hits the hole with a level of power that most mid-sized backs do not possess. Johnson rarely goes down on first contact. He will drag and push the pile for every inch.
Johnson would be ranked much higher if he had one more attribute. He lacks top-end speed and explosion. He has nice straight-line speed but does not have the sixth gear needed to beat most defensive backs to the edge. He does make up for his lack of speed with great effort and wonderful balance. His ability to remain up-right even after getting hit shows not only great balance but also solid toughness. He will run between the tackles for the ‘dirty’ yards.
He is also a strong linebacker prospect but most likely will play running back.
