The Skinny
Monroe has been committed to Texas since February 2007
The Analysis
One thing that Monroe does not lack is heart. This kid will never give an inch, and that’s good because he does not have many to give. He plays hard every play and has no fear about coming up and filling for the run. He is also very quick in small spaces and can change directions rapidly.
There are two major issues with Mr. Monroe. His stature and his speed. There is no mistaking his agility — it is very good. His top-end speed is another. He does have the vaunted sixth gear. Monroe lacks the ability to be a true game-breaker in the passing game because of his size — he is barely 5-8 — and the fact he does not have elite speed. He could end up as a strong corner against the run despite being small because he is so scrappy.
It will always be an uphill battle for Monroe, but there is no substitute for heart.
