Barnes has been committed to NC State since June 2007

The Analysis

Although listed at 6’ 185, Barnes plays the game much bigger than that. He could find himself on offense as a running back or wideout or possibly on defense as a safety.

Offensively, he is a dangerous weapon who can be lined up in a variety of places. He can be split out as a pure wide receiver but is also comfortable in the slot. He can line-up eight yards behind the QB as a true running back or can setup as a wingback. His physical brand of play allows him to play straight ahead and between the tackles better than a 185-pounder normally would.

Either way, Barnes will be given the ball in open space. He is a natural pass catcher and is most at home making people miss and turning short passes into big gains. He can stop on a dime and has great hips when making cuts. He does lack top-level speed.
