The Analysis
This tight end prospect is nearly as good of a receiving threat as Jake Stoneburner — the best pass-catching tight end prospect in the nation. He runs nice, crisp routes and will be were the coaches tell him to be. He shows nice athleticism and can make things happen after the catch, even being used on tight end screens. He is a solid red zone threat, using great hands to snatch the ball out of the air. Ayles has really nice burst coming out of his cuts.
He does not have ideal size, but his 6-4, 240-pound frame is more than adequate. As a blocker, he will need to improve in all areas. He does show solid potential, however. He has the ability to seal off the edge, allowing tailbacks to get to the outside gap.
His immediate impact will definitely come from the passing game, but with time, his improved blocking skills should turn him into an all-around tight end.
