The Analysis

At almost 6’1” and 180 pounds, Williams would be a very intriguing prospect for the cornerback position. His natural body type would tend to suggest corner, but his game is much better suited for the safety slot. He is a very physical player who loves to come up and support against the run. He is very powerful and uses his strength to play a physical brand of football and is an excellent tackler.

He may lack the pure athleticism to match-up with the smaller, speedier wide receivers but is comfortable playing almost any position in the secondary. In nickel situations he can play man-to-man against running backs or tight ends. Against the run he can be used as a fourth linebacker down in the box and on passing downs he shows great over-the-top ability. He plays the high point very well, using nice range and great ball skills to track down vertical passes.
