Stefon Diggs (Athlon Consensus #5)

The Analysis

PROS: Wide receiver or safety is the likely destination for Diggs, but he is also utilized as a cover corner and running back at Good Counsel as well. He is a long, rangy, high-cut athlete with room to add some strength. He has quick feet and is excellent with the ball in his hands. His experience running back makes him dangerous after the catch and will be a solid YAC player. His overall speed and athleticism gives him tremendous range as a safety. Diggs is used in the blitz schemes from his corner position a lot, so he is comfortable playing around the line of scrimmage. His leaping ability translates to either side of the ball, but he does let the ball into his body too much.

CONS: Since he is a raw talent and is given the ball in the backfield a lot, he will need to learn the subtleties of the wide receiver position on offense. Learning how to manipulate coverages instead of simply “out-talenting” defensive backs will be key. The same goes for the defense. His recognition skills and read-react ability will need to be refined, but his cover talents are there.
