The Analysis

PROS: The number of 70, 80 and 90-yard touchdown runs on Shell’s film is simply amazing. He finds a crease and will explode into the open field with incredible burst, gain speed instantly and will finish the play 15-20 yards ahead of everyone on the field. But for a player with great burst, speed and quickness, Shell also possesses three-down bulk, power and balance. He uses his pads well, will run through arm tackles with solid upper body strength and is very comfortable between the tackles. He has a solid stiff-arm, catches passes well and will develop into a good blocker. His low center of gravity and overall power makes him one of the most complete runners in this class. Rushel is certainly one of the most appropriately named prospects in the class.

CONS: There is very little not to like about Shell’s future upside. He does appear to carry the ball a little loosely at times, but that can be easily corrected.

BIO: At 29 straight 100-yard games and counting, Shell has landed as the second all-time leading rusher in WPIAL history and needs just under 1,000 yards to become the all-time leading rusher. Shell earned Class 3A All-State honors and Area Player of the Year recognition. Shell will play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
