The Analysis

PROS: Hamilton is a physical workhorse who sports an excellent NFL pedigree. He currently plays the interior of the D-Line and with some added bulk could end-up sliding inside on passing downs. This versatility makes him an intriguing prospect. At the moment, he projects as a defensive end with tremendous strength at the point of attack. He will hold his ground, loves to play to contact and has a good motor. He plays will good pad level, using his lower body to generate his push His long arms and strong hands are used well to shed blockers.

CONS: As he shifts outside to end, he will need to learn the finer points of the position. Building a pass-rush reportoire and proper pursuit skills will be key – sliding to the play or backside. He is not overly explosive and will never be a edge rusher, but could easily develop into a great all-around line player.

BIO: It is no shock that Hamilton is a bit of a tweener, considering his father, Keith, played both defensive end and tackle in the NFL for the New York Giants. His father played at Pitt. The younger Hamilton will play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
