The Analysis

PROS: Humphries agility, speed and quickness are astounding for a player of his size. He has excellent feet and moves incredibly well in the open field. He is a long, rangy athlete who can really run. He uses this pure athleticism to fire out of his stance and get to the second level quickly. He gets back into his pass sets with alarming quickness as well (almost too quick, at times). He does an excellent job of working to get position on a defender once he is engaged. He has long arms and will use them well against the pass rush, but will need to refine this area of his game.

CONS: The first key for Humphries will be adding significant power and strength in the form of bulk. He likely needs a full year in a college weight program before being able to compete in high-end collegiate athletics. Because he is unusually quick for a tackle, it almost appears as if he comes out of his stance too quickly, exposing himself to the inside and bull rushes. He needs to really develop his technique (feet and hands) in passing situations.

BIO: Will play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Has started since his freshman season. Was an All-State selection as a junior. Father, D.J., played at Presbyterian and in the Arena League. Plans to enroll early and is on schedule to graduate in December 2011.
