The Analysis
PROS: Obviously Peat has tremendous size and length for the offensive tackle position. Long arms, a powerful frame with room to grow and a mean streak that is a prerequisite for any elite offensive lineman. But what makes Peat such a special athlete is his flexibility, agility and footwork. He plays with exceptional pad level and knee bend. He shows tremendous ability to stay low and get underneath defenders pads. Throw in an NFL pedigree (his father played in the NFL) and scouts have one of the most perfect offensive left tackle prospects in years. He has excellent knowledge of the game as his family ties would indicate.CONS: His length and ranginess mean that, even at around 300 pounds, Peat will need to add power and strength. His raw athletic ability shouldn’t be effected by an added 10-15 pounds as his frame should be able to handle it. Once he refines the finer points of pass sets, Peat will have very few weaknesses.
BIO: His father, Todd Sr., played college football at Northern Illinois and in the NFL for the Arizona Cardinals and the Oakland Raiders. His older brother, Todd Jr., signed with Nebraska in the 2011 class.
