The Skinny
Smith is one of the keys to the best OL class in the nation
The Analysis
Smith is not yet a dominant force along the offensive line, but he has all the skills to be a first-day NFL Draft pick. He has great height, wingspan and frame for added bulk — which he will need. He does a great job of positioning himself between the defender and the football using solid hand technique to shield off potential tacklers.
He is a stronger pass protector than drive run blocker at the moment. He has solid athleticism and footwork while getting solid pass-block drops. He will use is massive width and long arms to mirror ends and keep them at bay.
He will need to develop as a run blocker. He will need to display a more consistent attitude when it comes to getting push at the point of attack. Pad level is also an issue. These things should be corrected with time in a college system and weight program.
Who's Got It Right: AC100, he is not a top-10 player but is properly slotted at No. 25
