Post Week 6 Waiver Wire Report

QB Jimmy Clausen, Notre Dame
In his last two starts, Clausen has thrown for six touchdowns and 622 yards. Although Purdue and Stanford aren’t exactly the best defenses, Clausen has been impressive. He’s definitely worth a look as a backup now and should be in the mix for a solid spot start.

QB Julian Edelman, Kent State
With running back Eugene Jarvis out, Edelman continues to shine. The senior threw for two 157 yards and two touchdowns, along with rushing for 113 yards against Akron. Edelman could come close to 100 rushing yards and should tally at least two scores each week.

QB Arkelon Hall, Memphis
There’s never been a doubt in Hall’s ability, but we needed to see a little more consistency before calling him an every week option. Against UAB, the junior college transfer threw four touchdowns – which gives him eight on the season. He’s going to have a few hit or misses, but you have to like his value in Conference USA play.

QB Chris Jacquemain, Akron
Jacquemain’s numbers aren’t particularly impressive, but he’s been consistent this season. The junior has at least one touchdown and 200 yards in every game. You know what you are getting from Jacquemain, but he’s worth a look in deep leagues.

QB Lyle Moevao, Oregon State
Moevao is off to a solid start (10 touchdowns, four interceptions) and is coming off a 300-yard performance against Utah. If you are in need of a spot start at quarterback for the next two weeks, take a look at this junior. Washington State and Washington aren’t exactly the toughest pass defenses in the conference, making Moevao a perfect pickup.

QB Jaybo Shaw, Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech starting quarterback Josh Nesbitt missed Saturday’s game against Duke with a hamstring injury, but Shaw filled in quite nicely. The true freshman completed 9 of 14 passes for 230 yards and a touchdown, along with 14 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Look for Shaw to be an excellent spot starter against Gardner-Webb, assuming Nesbitt does not return.

QB Trevor Vittatoe, UTEP
Some fantasy owners probably gave up on Vittatoe after a slow start, but now is the time to scoop him if he’s on your waiver wire. The sophomore quarterback has thrown seven touchdowns in his last two starts and at least 260 yards in three out of his last four games. With favorable match-ups ahead, Vittatoe looks primed for a solid finish to the season.

RB Glen Coffee, Alabama
Although Mark Ingram and Roy Upchurch will see carries, Coffee is still worth a look in fantasy leagues. In his last two games, Coffee has 47 carries for 304 yards and three scores. With the Crimson Tide offensive line plowing their way through opposing defenses, Coffee is emerging as an every week starter.

RB Gartrell Johnson, Colorado State
Johnson notched his first 100-yard performance of the season, as he carried the rock 33 times for 191 yards and three touchdowns against UNLV. Johnson appears to have the edge over Kyle Bell for carries and assuming that holds up, he’ll be a solid week-to-week option.

RB Antone Smith, Florida State
In Smith’s last two starts, he has seven touchdowns and 246 yards. Although the Florida State offensive line was a concern going into this year, it looks like it could be a solid part for this team. Smith could be a nice flex option in the coming weeks, but he does have a bye in Week 7.

RB Ben Tate, Auburn
With the struggles of the Auburn passing game, they will likely lean a little more on their rushing attack. Tate pounded the Vanderbilt defense for 108 yards last week and should see more carries in the coming weeks.

WR Deryn Bowser/Andre Jones, Akron
Both of these Akron receivers are worth a look in any fantasy league format. Jones is the better touchdown threat, but Bowser has 35 receptions in six contests.

WR Kenny Britt, Rutgers
Did you give up on this receiver after the slow start by Rutgers? Considering Britt caught 12 passes for 151 yards against West Virginia, he’s worth an add if any owner gave up on him after three games.

WR Jock Sanders, West Virginia
With quarterback Jarrett Brown seeing more snaps as a rusher, Sanders will likely see a reduced workload as a rusher, but he’s been a solid receiver for the Mountaineers. In Saturday’s win over Rutgers, Sanders caught four passes for 47 yards and a touchdown – which gives him four on the season. If you need a receiver for depth, Sanders is a good pickup.

WR R.J. Sumrall, Iowa State
Sumrall is coming off a 10 catch performance against Kansas, along with adding his fifth touchdown reception of the year. Although the Iowa State passing game is still improving, Sumrall is worth a look in deep fantasy leagues.

TE Cameron Morrah, California
Morrah’s numbers aren’t particularly impressive, but he has a touchdown in four out of five contests. Considering tight end starters have been hit or miss, his consistency could pay off if you need a starter at this spot.

Going fast

QB Kellen Moore, Boise State
Another week, another impressive performance for this redshirt freshman. Moore is still on the waiver wire in some leagues, but after throwing for 325 yards and two touchdowns against Louisiana Tech, he will be going fast.

QB Joseph Webb, UAB
This Blazer was still on the waiver wire in some leagues going into Thursday’s game against Memphis. Needless to say, after rushing for 93 yards and three touchdowns, along with adding 235 yards and one touchdown through the air – time is running out to add him to your roster.

RB Darren Evans, Virginia Tech
With teammate Kenny Lewis suffering a torn Achilles against Western Kentucky, Evans’ value just went up. Evans has at least one score in every game and it’s only a matter of time before he notches his first 100-yard performance of the season.

RB Vai Taua, Nevada
Taua continues to show he has week-to-week fantasy value, as he rushed for 90 yards and three touchdowns against Idaho. Although a couple of other backs will see carries, Taua is the Wolf Pack’s go-to guy at the running back spot.

WR Manuel Johnson, Oklahoma
Johnson continued his red-hot play with five catches for 92 yards and a touchdown against Baylor. In his last two games, Johnson has 10 catches for 298 yards and four touchdowns. Although there is a lot of weapons in the Sooner receiving corps, Johnson is emerging as an every week starter.

WR Kerry Meier, Kansas
The former quarterback continues to impress at receiver. In Saturday’s win over Iowa State, Meier grabbed two touchdown receptions, giving him 44 catches for 514 yards and three touchdowns on the year. Meier appears to be the top target for quarterback Todd Reesing and is emerging as a week-to-week starter.

WR Briggs Orsbon, Ball State
Ball State
certainly won’t replace Dante Love, but Orsbon has been pretty solid. In his last two performances, Orsbon has 16 catches for 188 yards. It’s only a matter of time before he reaches the endzone, so add him to your roster now.

WR Damian Williams, USC
Williams has received a few mentions in our column – and for good reason. The sophomore has at least a touchdown catch in the last three games and appears to be the favorite target for quarterback Mark Sanchez.

WR Jeremy Williams, Tulane
Saturday’s loss to Army was certainly disappointing for Tulane, but Williams turned in another strong performance. The junior caught four passes for 100 yards and a touchdown against the Black Knights, which was his fourth consecutive game with a score.

TE Eddie Williams, Idaho
The Idaho passing game has been nothing special this season, but Williams has been the team’s top target. In Saturday’s loss to Nevada, Williams caught 10 of quarterback Nathan Enderle’s completions. On the season, Williams has 36 receptions for 500 yards and five touchdowns and is a must-add for your roster.

Worth monitoring

QB Austen Arnaud, Iowa State
The Cyclones fell short of notching the upset over Kansas, but Arnaud turned in his best performance of the year. The sophomore passed for 268 yards and three touchdowns against a solid Jayhawk defense. Monitor his progress over the next couple of weeks, but Arnaud is showing some promise.

QB Joe Craddock, MTSU
We’ve mentioned Craddock a few times in this report and he gets another mention after his performance against FAU. The senior connected on 24 of 35 passes for 268 yards and two touchdown passes. Craddock is worth a look if you are desperate for a quarterback pickup, but not worth a must-add at this point.

QB Chris Crane, Boston College
Don’t get too excited over Crane’s performance against NC State just yet. Going into Saturday’s game against NC State, Crane had two touchdowns to five interceptions and was completing just a shade over 50 percent of his passes. He also posted sluggish performances in wins over UCF and Rhode Island. Although his 430 passing yards and five total touchdowns are nice, let’s see if he can repeat that performance before calling him a fantasy option.

QB Billy Farris, Colorado State
Farris has only five passing touchdowns on the year, but has thrown for more than 250 yards in three out of his five starts. Farris may be worth a look in select match-ups.

RB Lamark Brown, Kansas State
One week after gashing the Louisiana-Lafayette defense for 137 rushing yards and a touchdown, Brown was held under the 100-yard mark against Texas Tech. He’s got potential, but is very raw and needs more time before we can call him a week-to-week fantasy option.

RB Thomas Merriweather, Miami, Ohio
Merriweather recorded his first 100-yard effort of the season against Temple, but needs to put together a few more consistent performances before owners should add him to a roster.

RB Collin Mooney, Army
The Black Knights appear to have found a little spark in their offense. Since Chip Bowden was inserted as the starting quarterback, this team has been competitive and is coming off a victory against Tulane. Mooney totaled 181 yards (a career best) and four touchdowns against the Green Wave. He might be worth a look if you need a running back in Week 7, as Army takes on Eastern Michigan.

RB Chris Ogbonnaya, Texas
The Longhorns have struggled to establish a running game this year, but Ogbonnaya showed flashes against Colorado. The senior totaled 71 yards on the ground and a score, along with six catches for 116 yards and a touchdown through the air. Vondrell McGee, Cody Johnson and Fozzy Whittaker will see snaps, so see how the carries pan out before adding Ogbonnaya to your roster.

RB Jacob Ramsey, Cincinnati
With the Bearcats down to their third quarterback this year, they will likely lean a little more on Ramsey over the next couple of weeks. The sophomore rushed for 99 yards against Marshall, but has yet to find the endzone this year.

RB Jake Sharp, Kansas
Sharp was drafted in a good chunk of leagues this year, but hasn’t lived up to that potential. In Saturday’s win over Iowa State, Sharp totaled 79 rushing yards and a touchdown, along with 107 receiving yards and a score. If he could tally those totals each week, he’d be worth a look.

RB Rashaud Slaughter, UAB
Rushed for three touchdowns against Memphis, which equals his career touchdown total going into Thursday’s game. He may be worth a look eventually, but we need to see more consistency before calling him a waiver wire pickup.

RB Curtis Steele, Memphis
Rushed for 101 yards on 14 carries against UAB, but loses goal-line carries once teammate Charlie Jones returns to the field.

RB Ronnie Weaver, UCF
Weaver is no Kevin Smith, but he is showing signs of becoming a capable back for the Knights. In a 31-17 victory against SMU, Weaver notched 123 yards and a touchdown. This is Weaver’s first 100-yard effort, so let’s see how he does in upcoming weeks before calling him a worthy pickup.

WR Jason Barnes, South Carolina
With Kenny McKinley returning to the South Carolina lineup, it will be interesting to see how Barnes’ catches play out. However, his two touchdown performance against Ole Miss is certainly noteworthy.

WR Jason Chery, UL Lafayette
Although quarterback Michael Desormeaux is known for his rushing, he’s shown progress as a passer this season. Chery has recorded a touchdown reception and at least 80 receiving yards in his last two games. Keep an eye on him against North Texas.

WR Michael Floyd, Notre Dame
The Irish have a deep corps of receivers and it’s not going to be easy pegging which player could be the top weapon for quarterback Jimmy Clausen. Floyd has back-to-back 100-yard performances the last two weeks and is certainly a must-add in keeper leagues.

WR Rashaun Greer, Colorado State
Greer had a huge performance in Saturday’s win against UNLV, as he grabbed eight receptions for 211 yards and a touchdown. See what he does in the coming weeks before adding him to your roster.

WR Rich Gunnell, Boston College
Just as we mentioned with Boston College quarterback Chris Crane, don’t get too excited over Gunnell’s fantasy value just yet. Although 11 catches for 123 yards and a touchdown against NC State are impressive, let’s see if Crane can continue his solid play for another week.

WR Demaryius Thomas, Georgia Tech
Going into Saturday’s game against Duke, Thomas had seven catches for 88 yards and a touchdown this season. Thomas topped those numbers in one game with nine catches for 230 yards and a touchdown against Duke. Don’t get too overwhelmed with this performance in your waiver wire pickups.

WR Ryan Whalen, Stanford
With Richard Sherman out four to six weeks with a knee injury, Whalen is expected to step-up in the Stanford passing attack. Whalen led Stanford in receptions and receiving yards against Notre Dame, with eight catches for 92 yards. Keep an eye on Whalen in deep fantasy leagues.

TE Kyle Rudolph, Notre Dame
The Irish offense is firing on all cylinders this season. Quarterback Jimmy Clausen has been sharp the past few weeks and Rudolph is coming off a five-catch for 70 yards and a touchdown performance against Stanford. If Clausen continues to play well, Rudolph could be an excellent addition as a free agent tight end.

TE Ryan Moya, UCLA
The UCLA offense has been hit or miss this season, but Moya has caught at least three catches in every game. If Moya continues to post solid totals, he could be a nice spot starter at tight end.
