CFB Fantasy -- Wk 2 Waiver Wire Report

If your fantasy roster is in trouble, our waiver wire report has a few options that should be helpful going into week three. If a few of your draft picks are struggling, it's still too early to give up on anyone. Don't be afraid to make a move if needed, but don't make wholesale changes after two weeks.

QB Randall Cobb,
Kentucky
There’s a quarterback controversy brewing in Lexington. Mike Hartline has been so-so in two starts and Cobb gave this team a spark against Norfolk State. This true freshman has potential to get rushing, receiving and passing yards against MTSU and it’s time to grab him before it’s too late.

QB Austin Davis, Southern Mississippi
Although the Golden Eagles lost to Auburn, Davis had a solid outing – 268 passing yards and two touchdowns. We know coach Larry Fedora is an offensive mastermind and Davis should be a top 50 fantasy quarterback the rest of the season.

QB Tyler Graunke, Hawaii
After three other quarterbacks failed to impress, Graunke finally got his shot against Weber State. The senior posted 218 yards and three touchdowns – impressive considering he only played in the second half.

QB Robert Griffin, Baylor
This freshman quarterback dazzled against Northwestern State with 294 passing yards and four total touchdowns. Considering Washington State is coming off a dismal performance against California, don’t rule out another huge game by Griffin.

QB Arkelon Hall, Memphis
If you gave up on Hall after one week, shame on you. This Tiger signal-caller gashed the Rice secondary for 373 yards and three touchdowns. With Marshall up next, expect another solid performance from Hall.

QB Chris Jacquemain, Akron
Jacquemain and his teammates put even more pressure on Syracuse coach Greg Robinson with their 42-28 upset on Saturday. Through two games, the junior has five passing touchdowns to one interception and is worth a look the next two weeks against Ball State and Army.

QB Ryan Lindley, San Diego State
We mentioned Lindley as one to watch last week and he is more deserving of a serious look after his performance in South Bend. It’s pretty clear the Aztecs are going to air it out this year and Lindley should post solid numbers in conference play.

QB Patrick Pinkney, East Carolina
After two weeks, Pinkney has only misfired on ten passes – 41 of 51 for 447 yards and two touchdowns. For owners looking for a waiver wire pickup for week three, consider Pinkney against Tulane.

QB Christian Ponder, Florida State
If you need a quarterback in a deep league, here’s one to Ponder. In his first career start, this sophomore threw for 196 yards and three touchdowns against Western Carolina. With Chattanooga up next, look for Ponder to shine once again.

QB Kyle Reed, San Jose State
Before getting knocked out with a concussion against Nebraska, Reed was off to a solid start. There’s no denying this former California quarterback has talent, and assuming he’s healthy this week, he’s an excellent pickup against a suspect San Diego State defense.

QB Chris Todd, Auburn
It appears Todd has held off Kodi Burns for the starting quarterback job…for now. Todd isn’t a great start against Mississippi State, but has potential to post solid fantasy numbers in select match-ups.

QB Joseph Webb, UAB
The Blazers will struggle to escape the cellar of Conference USA, but Webb is a legitimate fantasy quarterback. Through two weeks, the junior has 495 passing yards, four touchdowns and 202 yards on the ground.

RB Duane Bennett, Minnesota
Steady performance against Bowling Green and two favorable match-ups – Montana State and Florida Atlantic – up next.

RB Gartrell Johnson, Colorado State
Johnson appears to be pulling ahead of teammate Kyle Bell for carries in the Ram offense. Drop Bell and pickup Johnson.

RB Jared Hawkins, Vanderbilt
Hawkins isn’t going to wow you with speed, but this Commodore back runs with power. Against a solid South Carolina defense, Hawkins ran for 84 yards and one touchdown and makes for a solid pickup against Rice, especially since the Commodores need to keep the high-powered Owls on the sidelines.

RB Jacquizz Rodgers, Oregon State
Ryan McCants has struggled in two games, but this five-foot-seven back has shown flashes of being a go-to guy. Against Penn State, Rodgers rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns. Considering his size, it’s a fair question on whether he will hold up for the full season.

RB Brandon West, Western Michigan
West should’ve been drafted in most leagues, but if he wasn’t, his 175-yard performance against Northern Illinois will have him as one of this week’s top pickups.

WR Brandon Banks, Kansas State
Deon Murphy was expected to be the top receiver for the Wildcats, but through two weeks, Banks leads the team in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns. He’s worth an immediate add, especially with quarterback Josh Freeman playing well.

WR D.J. Boldin, Wake Forest
Through two weeks, Boldin leads the ACC in receptions with 18. Although it’s early, he looks like Riley Skinner’s go-to guy.

WR Ryan Broyles, Oklahoma
Seven catches for 141 yards and one touchdown against Cincinnati certainly opened some eyes. Juaquin Iglesias and Manuel Johnson are week-to-week fantasy options, but Broyles looks like he could be the third.

WR Quan Cosby, Texas
After catching three passes for 34 yards in the opener against FAU, Cosby torched the UTEP defense for eight receptions, 154 yards and a touchdown. Look for Cosby to continue posting solid fantasy numbers each week, especially with quarterback Colt McCoy healthy.

WR Patrick Edwards, Houston
Somebody is going to emerge as the go-to guy for the Cougars. Edwards has 12 receptions for 161 yards and one touchdown through two weeks and has a favorable match-up against Air Force next week.

WR Jeff Fuller, Texas A&M
This freshman continues to impress. Against New Mexico, he added three receptions for 36 yards and two touchdowns. Assuming the quarterback position settles, Fuller is solid pickup at receiver.

WR Scotty McKnight, Colorado
Quarterback Cody Hawkins has looked sharp the first two weeks of the season and he has found McKnight has 11 receptions for 157 yards and a touchdown. The Buffaloes are a young team, and Hawkins to McKnight should be a potent combination all season.

WR Louis Murphy, Florida
While Percy Harvin continues to round into game shape, look for Murphy to be quarterback Tim Tebow’s go-to receiver.

WR Jordan Norwood, Penn State
Two weeks, two touchdowns. The Nittany Lions have favorable match-ups against Syracuse and Temple up next, making Norwood a sleeper pick to shine.

WR Nathan Palmer, Northern Illinois
Even with quarterback Chandler Harnish knocked out of Saturday’s game with an injury, the Huskies’ offense continued to click.

WR Darius Passmore, Marshall
Assuming quarterback Mark Cann continues to make strides, Passmore could approach the ten touchdown reception mark.

WR Terence Scott, Oregon
Jaison Williams was expected to be the Ducks’ top receiver this season, but Scott has stole the spotlight after two weeks. The senior has ten catches for 161 yards and three total touchdowns and gets a shot at a suspect Purdue defense this week.

WR Nate Swift, Nebraska
Swift and quarterback Joe Ganz have hooked up 11 times for 191 yards and two touchdowns this season. With New Mexico State’s suspect defense up next, Swift is a nice pickup for week three.

WR Ryan Wolfe, UNLV
Through two weeks, Wolfe has 16 receptions for 164 yards and two touchdowns and has emerged as Omar Clayton’s go-to guy.

TE Jared Cook, South Carolina
With top receiver Kenny McKinley battling a hamstring injury against Vanderbilt, Cook caught eight passes for 111 yards and no touchdowns. If the Gamecocks can find consistent quarterback play, Cook should be a backup tight end or one to add for select match-ups.

TE Aaron Hernandez, Florida
After missing the first game for undisclosed reasons, Hernandez made his presence felt with five receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown against Miami. The Gators are off this week, but he could be a sneaky play against Tennessee in week four.

TE Kavario Middleton, Washington
Time is running out for you to pickup this talented youngster on the waiver wire. Quarterback Jake Locker and his receivers showed solid improvement from week one and it’s only a matter of time before Middleton finds the endzone.

TE D.J. Williams, Arkansas
Williams has posted back-to-back five catch performances. He’s a solid backup tight end now, and potentially a fantasy starter if the Razorbacks continue to throw the ball well.

Running out of time to pickup…

QB Daryll Clark, Penn State
Another steady performance for this junior and he’s a solid pickup with Syracuse up next.

QB Josh Freeman, Kansas State
We'd be shocked if Freeman was on the waiver wire in many leagues, but if he's on yours...pick him up now!

QB Jevan Snead, Mississippi
The Rebels are a much-improved team with Snead at the helm…and he’s only getting better with more experience.

QB Juice Williams, Illinois
Juice didn’t have another huge passing performance, but after two weeks, he’s the No. 4 ranked quarterback in a standard college fantasy scoring system. If he’s still on the waiver wire, grab him now.

RB Donald Brown, Connecticut
Even with Andre Dixon back in the lineup, Brown was still the workhorse.

RB Shonn Greene, Iowa
Greene has favorable match-ups the next three weeks and has posted back-to-back 100-yard efforts.

RB Kendall Hunter, Oklahoma State
210 yards and two touchdowns against Houston…and going fast on the waiver wire.

RB Da’Rel Scott, Maryland
If you didn’t listen to us last week, you may be too late. Scott rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown against MTSU and is emerging as a consistent week-to-week starter.

WR Doug Beaumont, Louisville
Hunter Cantwell owners, don’t give up on this offense just yet. The Cardinals torched Tennessee Tech, and Beaumont continues to show he’s their go-to guy after two games.

WR D’Andre Goodwin, Washington
We were high on Goodwin all preseason and through two games, he’s got 13 receptions for 150 yards. It’s only a matter of time before Goodwin reaches the end zone and should be added immediately.

Worth Monitoring

QB Diondre Borel, Utah State
The Aggies may have found their signal-caller against Oregon. Borel completed 16 of 24 for 157 yards and two touchdowns against the Ducks, while adding 31 rushing yards. He’s not a week-to-week option right now, but is worth a look when the Aggies hit WAC play.

QB Mark Cann, Marshall
For a half, it looked like the Thundering Herd had enough to pull off the upset over Wisconsin. Through two games, Cann has completed 31 of 61 passes for 372 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. Considering the struggles of most Conference USA teams on defense, Cann is a nice sleeper in conference play.

QB Jimmy Clausen, Notre Dame
Against a tougher-than-expected San Diego State defense, Clausen completed 21 of 34 passes for 237 yards and three touchdowns. The two interceptions aren’t helpful to his fantasy value, but see how Clausen fairs against a solid Michigan defense before adding him to your team.

QB Casey Dick, Arkansas
Going into this season, Dick threw more than 200 yards only twice in three seasons. Through two games this year, he’s got two 300-yard performances. However, he won’t see Western Illinois or Louisiana-Monroe the next few weeks, so hold off on him for now.

RB LeGarrette Blount, Oregon
After Jeremiah Johnson suffered a shoulder injury against Utah State, Blount rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns against Utah State. Assuming Johnson can play against Purdue, Blount is not a bad pick in deep fantasy leagues as a flex option.

RB Graig Cooper, Miami
Javarris James left Saturday’s loss against Florida with an ankle/leg injury. If James can’t return, Cooper is a nice addition as a backup running back.

RB MiQuale Lewis, Ball State
The Cardinals already boast three week-to-week fantasy starters and Lewis could become the fourth. He doesn’t have prototypical size (5’6”), but has 209 yards and one touchdown through two games.

RB Marcus Thigpen, Indiana
We mentioned Thigpen as a potential sleeper this year in our preseason preview and he showed signs of fantasy value against Murray State. Thigpen added 100 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, but needs to show he can consistently produce before adding him to your lineup.

RB Jonathan Williams, East Carolina
The Pirates don’t have Chris Johnson, but Williams and Brandon Simmons are a solid one-two punch. Williams has the edge in touchdowns and with a solid performance against Tulane, could be one of the top pickups in week three.

WR Joe Adams, Arkansas
This true freshman caught seven passes for 89 yards against Louisiana-Monroe, but monitor Casey Dick’s performances in the next week or two to gauge how high is value really is.

WR Demario Belcher, Indiana
This freshman receiver has reminded some in Bloomington of James Hardy. Keep an eye on how this youngster progresses over the next few weeks.

WR Frantrell Forrest, UAB
Blazer quarterback Joe Webb looks like a solid fantasy option the rest of the year, and Forrest is one to monitor over the next couple of games. The sophomore caught 11 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown against Florida Atlantic, giving him 13 receptions for 191 yards and two touchdowns on the season.

WR Marty Gilyard, Cincinnati
Gilyard’s 365 all-purpose yards against Oklahoma were impressive, but with quarterback Dustin Grutza out a couple of weeks, the Bearcat offense will likely struggle a tad.

WR Dwayne Harris, East Carolina
Harris hasn’t found the endzone, but he has developed a nice connection with quarterback Patrick Pinkney. Monitor him over the next couple of weeks.

WR Maurice Jones, Memphis
The Tigers have a lot of options in the receiving corps, but is Jones becoming Arkelon Hall’s favorite receiver?

WR Michael Reed, BYU
We already knew Austin Collie and Dennis Pitta were week-to-week fantasy options. However, is Reed emerging as a legitimate third option?

WR Keith Smith, Purdue
A second receiver will emerge for the Boilermakers. Is Smith the one?

WR Golden Tate, Notre Dame
The Irish managed to squeak by San Diego State, but the passing game showed progress. Tate caught six passes for 93 yards and a touchdown, which led the team. We’ll have to see how the Irish do against better competition before deciding how much value he has in 120 leagues.

WR Johnny Williams, Duke
The Blue Devils already have a solid No. 1 receiver in Eron Riley, but Williams leads the team in receptions and receiving yards after two weeks. Against Northwestern, the true freshman caught 11 passes for 135 yards. Keep an eye on him in Saturday’s favorable match-up against Navy.

TE Matthew Kawulok, San Diego State
The Aztec offense seems content to let quarterback Ryan Lindley air it out this year and against Notre Dame, Kawulok nabbed nine receptions for 60 yards. He’s yet to find the endzone, but could be a sleeper pick against San Jose State and Idaho.

TE Brandon Myers, Iowa
Starter Tony Moeaki has missed the last two weeks with injury. In his absence, Myers has grabbed two touchdowns and seven receptions for 103 yards. If Moeaki continues to miss time, Myers is not a bad pickup as a starting tight end.

TE Tommy Trott, Auburn
Trott and quarterback Chris Todd developed a nice connection in week two, as the tight end caught three passes for 44 yards. If Trott has a big game in week three, pick him up for your lineup.

Time to worry

QB Jake Christensen, Iowa
If he was on your roster, it’s probably safe to drop him. Ricky Stanzi got the start over him against FIU and posted an impressive showing.

QB Stephen McGee, Texas A&M
After McGee was knocked out with a shoulder injury, backup Jerrod Johnson played well enough to create a quarterback controversy in College Station.

QB Gary Rogers, Washington State
It’s a little puzzling why the Cougars haven’t attacked downfield more with receiver Brandon Gibson. However, Rogers is in danger of losing his job and it appears coach Paul Wulff’s no-huddle offense is in the garage.

RB Aaron Brown, TCU
Suspended week one, but zero carries in week two.

RB Ryan McCants, Oregon State
Considering McCants is a bigger back, he needs more than four carries to get going. Until coach Mike Riley gives him a consistent 10-15 diet of carries, he’s likely relegated to waiver wire status.

Michigan fantasy options
I was not high on the Wolverine options heading into this season and after two games, it’s pretty clear this offense will have a committee approach at running back and suspect quarterback play. Unless one of the running backs begin to emerge out of the pack, they have no value in 120 leagues.

Drop ‘Em

QB Dwight Dasher, MTSU
It appears Dasher has lost his starting job to Joe Craddock…for now.

RB Kyle Bell, Colorado State
Gartrell Johnson is outperforming Bell and it’s time to cut ties with this senior.

RB Terry Grant, Alabama
Two weeks into the season, Grant has negative yardage in the rushing department.

RB Luke Lippincott, Nevada
A tough break for the Wolf Pack, as Lippincott suffered a torn ACL against Texas Tech and is done for the year.
