2007 Recruiting class No. 2: Tennessee

#2: Tennessee

Tennessee has built one of the most skillful recruiting classes of 2007. Athleticism was the theme across the board, especially in the backfield, where they signing five running backs. The Vols also added depth, speed and skill at wide receiver.

Tennessee also added plenty of help on the defensive side of the ball. It replenished the crop of defensive linemen, and in the secondary, the Vols signed enough speed and quickness to cover the best WR cores in the SEC for the next four years. Tennessee rounds out their recruiting with arguably the best linebacker trio in the country.

Impact Player: Eric Berry, DB, Fairburn, Ga.

A talent like Berry comes once in a blue moon. He is a shutdown corner in every sense of the title. He has great quickness and excellent hips. He plays with great technique and some of the best footwork around. He is extremely explosive out of his cuts, with excellent recovery speed. He also has great contact courage. He is a defensive coordinators dream. The Vols can build their defense around a player like Berry.

Sleeper: B.J. Coleman, QB, Chattanooga, Tenn.

B.J. personifies what a quarterback should be — a leader on and off the field, a student of the game, and a great character guy. He has all the tools. B.J. can make any throw on the football field with his cannon for an arm. He can diagnose the defense and make his reads and adjustments on the fly. He will be the future at QB for the Vols.
