They return 18 players with substantial starting experience, including their entire offensive line and their top three pass catchers, but their success in finding a new quarterback and running back will ultimately determine their season.

No. 24: Wake Forest

Wake Forest is enjoying the most successful period of its football history highlighted by two consecutive bowl trips and a combined 20 wins over the last two seasons. Jim Grobe's Demon Deacons rank No. 24 on Athlon's preseason Top 25 countdown.

No. 25: Fresno State

Fresno State will enter the season as one of the favorites to become 2008's BCS buster. The WAC title is certainly within reach and possibly more if this team can make it through a tough schedule.
