CFB Start or Sit: Week 10

In every fantasy line-up, every week there are perilous decisions that can make or break a fantasy victory. While no other person can ever tell a GM who to play - only the owner can truly make that call - a little advice couldn't hurt, right? Each week we will glance at some players that deserve consideration for a starting spot this weekend and a few that owners might want to think twice about playing due to tough match-ups or extenuating circumstances.

Quarterback Rankings

Deserves a second look
Casey Dick, Arkansas (Tulsa)
The Golden Hurricane may bring the nation's best offense to town but they certainly do not bring the nation's best defense. Tulsa ranks 114th in pass defense and 107th in pass efficiency defense. Look for the entire Arkansas offense to have a solid game. It's more of a wait and see approach with the Hog defense, however.

Levi Brown v. Kinsmon Lancaster (Troy @ La.-Monroe)
ULM ranks at or near the bottom of every defense statistic in the Sun Belt and the nation. Nationally, Troy isn't a whole lot better. Especially when they are facing a quarterback in Lancaster that has scored at least three touchdowns in each of the last three games. He accounted for 690 passing yards and 214 yards on the ground over that span as well. There should be some solid output from both.

Jarrett Lee, LSU (Tulane)
The Texan finally has a shot to breakout. Back-up and effective runner Andrew Hatch is banged up and likely won't contribute much. Against a far inferior level of competition, Lee has a chance to make plenty of plays. The ground game should work and the receivers should be open. Would you want to face the Tigers after what happen in Baton Rouge last week?

Andy Dalton, TCU (@ UNLV)
504 pass yards, 6 TD, 0 INT, 40 rush yds, TD in his last two games since returning from two game stint on 'disabled list.' TCU will need him to win and he rushed for 72 yards and two scores last year in a blowout against the Rebels.

Diondre Borel, Utah State (Hawaii)
Borel has rushed for at least 40 in each of his last seven games (300 yds) and his two best passing outputs of the season were in his last two games. Against a Hawaii team playing on the mainland, Utah State has a chance to score some points. Look for Borel to continue his solid fantasy play.

Better Think Twice
Chase Holbrook, New Mexico State (@ Boise St)
Touchdown to interception ratio in the last two games: 3 to 4. In other words, not good. Last year against Boise, Holbrook played little and managed only 32 yards on four completions with no touchdowns and an interception. Boise's defense is much better this year. It ranks second in pass efficiency and fourth in scoring defense...nationally.

Matthew Stafford (Georgia v. Florida)
Be weary. This Gator defense has been much better than anticipated. They rank at or near the top of all the major defensive categories in the SEC. Also, if Georgia expects to win this game, their ground game must be effective. That means more clock and lots of Knowshon Moreno. How do you bench the future number one pick in the biggest game of his career though?

Corey Leonard, Arkansas St (@ Alabama)
Where is La.-Monroe when you need them? Arkansas State claims the Sun Belt's best defense as they lead the conference in scoring, rushing defense and total defense. Unfortunately, that is the equivalent of bringing a knife to a gun fight. Roll Tide.

Thaddeus Lewis, Duke (@ Wake Forest)
The Deacs have allowed only 20 points three times this season, surrendering only 16 points per game. In his only two roads starts this season, Lewis has thrown just one touchdown and rushed for -53 yards. He averaged only 159 passing yards per game in those games.

Running Back Rankings

Deserves a second look
John Clay, Wisconsin (@ Michigan St)
The most talented running back in Wisconsin history - at least the modern era - will have to be a big part of the Badger offense if they expect to hang with Sparty. Look for them to feed Clay the ball early and often in an effort to keep Javon Ringer off the field. Michigan State's rush defense hasn't been bad this season but they do sit at eighth in the conference currently.

Omar Conteh, Northwestern (@ Minnesota)
Tyrell Sutton owners need not worry. Just snag Conteh off the waiver wire, plug him in and watch him go (although, I did shed a solitary tear when I dropped Sutton this week). Look for Conteh to pick up right where he left off. Last season - in place of Sutton - Conteh had two 100-yard games, hit the 120 total yard plateau four times, had three games with at least four receptions and had a three-touchdown game. In five games.

Brandon Minor, Michigan (@ Purdue)
In the only two games in which he was the primary ball carrier - the last two - Minor scored two touchdowns each time. And those four scores came against Penn State and Michigan State. The bigger, more physical, more experienced Minor has proven to be more effective than Mr. Mighty Mouse McGuffie. Purdue has failed to accomplish much of anything this season.

Stafon Johnson and Co., USC (@ Washington)
See the Washington State boxscore. Lots of names. Lots of points.

Victor Anderson, Louisville (@ Syrcause)
The freshman tailback has reached the 100-yard plateau in all but two of his career starts thus far. The Orange - much like Purdue and Washington above - have yet to really prove anything to anyone. The Cuse ranks last in every major defensive category in the Big East and are allowing a putrid 212 rushing yards per game. Good for 108th nationally. Can Paul Harris tackle?

Better Think Twice
Jonathan Dwyer v. Antone Smith (Florida St @ Georgia Tech)
These are the best two defenses in the ACC against the run. They are likely the best two overall defenses and maybe the most balanced teams in the league. Both fly to the football and are built to stop the run. This game will be about the play of Christian Ponder and Josh Nesbitt.

Kory Sheets, Purdue (Michigan)
See Brandon Minor above. And Michigan's run defense is still Michigan good.

Frank Summers, UNLV (TCU)
TCU leads the nation in run defense, allowing an absurd 31 yards per game on the ground. Summers may have a chance at the end zone as he is always the goal line threat. But how many times do the Rebels get there? It seems this game falls to quarterback  Omar Clayton.

Reggie Arnold, Arkansas St (@ Alabama)
The Tide could keep the ball for 45 minutes. They keep rolling.

A few teams to stay away from:
Any Clemson tailback, Clemson (@ Boston College)
Any Illinois tailback, Illinois (Iowa)
Any Texas Tech tailback, Texas Tech (Texas)

Wide Receiver Rankings

Deserves a second look
Kerry Meier, Kansas (Kansas St)
This is more of a reminder than a sleeper. Dezmon Briscoe is certainly a must start every week but maybe not Meier. This week, however, he needs to be in the line-up. Kansas State has allowed two quarterbacks to pass for 400 yards this season and Todd Reesing should have a field day.

Darrell McNeal, La.-Monroe (Troy)
In each of the junior's last three games, he has scored a touchdown and caught at least four passes. This included a 149-yard effort against the Belt's best defense of Arkansas State.

Ryan Tannehill / Jeff Fuller, Texas A&M (Colorado)
Colorado just allowed 305 yards and five touchdowns to Chase Daniel and Missouri. Jeremy Maclin caught 11 balls for 134 yards and two scores. Three hundred and four is not out of the question this weekend for Aggie quarterback Jerrod Johnson.

Juan Nunez, Western Michigan (Eastern Michigan)
First, there is bona-fide fantasy stud Jamarko Simmons. Next came the organzationally challenged Schneider Julien. Now, its Juan Nunez. The nation's seventh best 317 pass yards per game have to go somewhere.

Brandon LaFell, LSU (Tulane)
Finally one of the uber talented wideouts at LSU is making plays! Even if the Tigers are down by 50 points. LaFell is leading the team in receptions, yards and touchdowns by solid margins. This is a great spot to open up the playbook a bit and get his confidence up. Where is the Mad Hatter that we all know and love so much?

Better Think Twice
Eron Riley, Duke (@ Wake Forest)
See Thaddeus Lewis above.

A.J. Green, Georgia (Florida)
Florida: SEC's most efficient pass defense. Talent is scary though.

Julio Jones, Alabama (Tulane)
Over/under on Tide hand-offs: 60.5?

Deon Murphy, Kansas State (@ Kansas)
Promised return touchdown this week. One problem: KU won't be punting much.

Tight End Rankings

Defensive Rankings

1. LSU (Tulane)
2. Stanford (Washington St)
