Cincinnati

The Bearcats hope they can repeat last season’s success, but it will all start under center. Senior Dustin Grutza has the edge for the starting spot. Grutza is worth a gamble as a fantasy option, but sophomore Demetrius Jones will be an intriguing option when healthy.

Connecticut

Freshman running back Jordan Todman is nursing a sprained left shoulder and is out indefinitely.

Backup quarterback Zach Frazer is recovering from a concussion.

Louisville

Backup quarterback Matt Simms has been suspended four games due to a violation of team rules. Simms isn’t a fantasy option in 2008, but keep an eye on him in 2009.

Receiver Scott Long will likely miss the season opener with a foot injury.

Pittsburgh

Coach Dave Wannstedt has not named a starter, but all indications point to Bill Stull getting the job.

LeSean McCoy is one of the top running backs in college football, but the Panthers may have found another youngster to add to the depth in the backfield.

Dorin Dickerson appears to have finally found a position where he can make an impact.

Rutgers

The Scarlet Knights may lose running back Ray Rice, but they’ve still got Mike Teel at quarterback. Teel should have a solid fantasy season and is a nice bye week or backup option in all league formats.

The Scarlet Knight defense is leaning heavily on the leadership of safety Courtney Greene.

South Florida

Sophomore Mike Ford is easily the most talented running back on the roster, but he’s not working with the first team. Ford is a top 35 fantasy running back, but his value for the first couple of weeks is unsettled.

A.J. Love is one to watch at receiver this season.

Syracuse

The key to a successful season in Syracuse? The offensive line.

The Orange have three running backs vying for the No. 1 spot. If Delone Carter is 100 percent, he could be a waiver wire pickup during the season.

West Virginia

If you get points for return yardage in your fantasy league, Noel Devine just became a little more valuable.

Devine has also worked hard since last season to develop into one of the top running backs in the NCAA.

Coach Bill Stewart also spreads a little insight about how the offense may differ this season from 2007.
