Top 25 Fantasy Ks
Topping the fantasy kicker rankings is Missouri’s Jeff Wolfert. This kicker notched 130 points last season, to go along with his 11 field goals of 30 or more yards. Fantasy owners should expect an increase in his production this season. The Tigers return quarterback Chase Daniel, as well as weapons in the receiving corps – leaving Wolfert plenty of opportunities to tack on points. Wolfert didn’t exactly take the typical track to becoming a starting kicker at the collegiate level. The Overland Park, Kansas native joined the team as a walk-on, after having only one game of high school kicking experience.
If you miss out on Wolfert, West Virginia’s Pat McAfee and LSU’s Colt David are solid options. Additionally, Arizona State’s Thomas Weber missed only one field goal last year and should see plenty of opportunities with a high-powered offense returning in 2008.
Don’t worry if you miss out one of the top kickers. There are plenty of options fantasy owners can find in the final round of the draft and several options will be on the waiver wire. Additionally, fantasy-friendly schools like Texas Tech and Oklahoma are both breaking in new kickers in 2008, and the winner of the job has immediate value.
