It should come as no surprise Texas Tech’s Michael Crabtree sits atop the initial release of the college fantasy receiver rankings. In his redshirt freshman season, Crabtree caught 134 passes for 1,962 yards and 22 touchdowns – numbers that are enough to give defensive coordinators nightmares every night of the week. Although Crabtree may see a little drop in his 2008 numbers, he will likely go within the first five picks for your draft – possibly as the top overall pick if you have a manager willing to gamble. If the sophomore is off the board, there are other solid options for your team.

New Mexico State’s Chris Williams missed the final five games of 2007 due to injury, but there’s a lot of upside with this pick. The Aggies have a high-powered offense and if Williams stays healthy, a 100 catch season is not out of the question. After the top two spots, Missouri’s Jeremy Maclin and Florida’s Percy Harvin are the next options. In addition to their receiving totals, both players are threats to reach 500 rushing yards.

As usual, expect a couple of sleeper picks to come out of this position. Tennessee’s Gerald Jones will play a larger role in the Volunteer offense this year and should significantly increase his production. In addition to Jones, keep your eye on Indiana’s Ray Fisher and Washington’s D’Andre Goodwin. Both players are stepping into situations with a lack of proven weapons and a quarterback among the top 20 in fantasy value.

With several system offenses looking to reload at receiver, keep an eye on the depth charts at Hawaii, Houston, Cincinnati and SMU. Any of these teams could produce a sleeper pick at the receiver spot and could be a late-round steal in your draft.

I'm gonna ignore the idoit two posts below me and just tell you that this is a good list, I would put Casey Fitzgerald I little higher, but I'm sure you have a good reason.

Last season dillard had a rough time up to half of the season. Then he and clemns blew up the field for their owners. i was lucky enough to pick them both up and they helped me ride into the playoffs. But #5 is a bit high. Last season i ranked him #1 over all due to his play making skills. But if the Rice coaching staff goes back to the ball control offense instead of fun and gun Dillard will not do well until the coach is on the hot seat

Where is Maryland on this (FREAKIN 82?) Why put Darrius Heyward-Bey at #82? He should be at least in the top 25 WRs. HELLO!!!! All of this is bull. Why would you put him on 82?
