After the first weekend of March Madness, the Big East is leading the way once again, with five of its seven bids advancing to the Sweet 16. But the Big 12 may have been just as impressive, with none of its six teams losing in the opening round and three advancing to the second weekend.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the ACC was the most disappointing league. The historic basketball conference saw four of its seven bids lose in the first round, with only traditional title contenders UNC and Duke advancing to the Sweet 16. The ACC was also dealt the biggest upset, with No. 4-seed Wake Forest — a team that was ranked No. 1 in the country earlier this year and was thought to be a Final Four sleeper by many — being shocked by No. 13-seed Cleveland State.

The following is a conference-by-conference rundown of how this year’s field of 65 played over the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament:
