For the first time since Week 3, the Los Angeles Lakers sit atop the weekly Athlon Sports NBA Power Rankings — knocking the Chicago Bulls down a peg.
The last time the Lakers were atop these rankings they were 8-0 and didn't look like they would have trouble with any team until a Christmas Day game against Miami. Oops. They followed up their No.1 ranking with back-to-back losses.
It's tempting to move San Antonio out of the top spot for the first time since Week 12 after Monday's 30-point loss to Miami — the last team not named San Antonio to own the No. 1 ranking. It was the same margin the Spurs used to beat the Heat on March 4.
It was so tempting that it was done.
Chicago jumps San Antonio and takes over the Athlon Sports NBA Power Rankings' No. 1 position for the first time all season.
This week should be the start of the fantasy basketball playoffs for many of you. Some of you may have round one byes, some of you may be playing first-round games this week or some of you may be entering the stretch where it's just the top two seeds and the playoffs are a one-round, three-week affair.
So you have three weeks to go to secure your league's championship. Each of us may get there in a different way. Assuming most of the talent, even the fringe talent, has been picked up off waivers in your league, you need to find another edge.
