Armed Forces Bowl Preview and Prediction: Air Force vs. Rice

Two 6-6 teams meet in the Armed Forces Bowl.

Two teams with productive running attacks, suspect defenses and that won just enough games to become bowl eligible face off when Rice and Air Force take the field at TCU’s renovated Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas. The Owls are in a bowl for the first time since 2008, thanks to a four-game winning streak to finish the regular season.

College Football's Top 20 Coaches on the Hot Seat: Post-Week 3 Rankings

Colorado's Jon Embree is off to an awful start this season.

Week 3 of the 2012 college football season is in the books and plenty of coaches saw the temperature on their seat increase by a few degrees. Kentucky's Joker Phillips easily ranks as the No. 1 coach on the hot seat after a disappointing loss to Western Kentucky. SEC foe Tennessee lost to Florida on Saturday, which only adds to the pressure under coach Derek Dooley.

California's Jeff Tedford ranks in the top 10 of this week's coaches on the hot seat.

Week 2 of the 2012 college football season is in the books and plenty of coaches saw the temperature on their seat increase by a few degrees. Auburn's Gene Chizik and Iowa's Kirk Ferentz are ranked for the first time in 2012, while Arkansas' John L. Smith makes an appearance after the Hogs' stunning overtime home loss to Louisiana-Monroe.

College Football: BCS Crasher Stock Report

Louisiana-Monroe's Kolton Browning is seeking a second SEC win

Last week’s BCS crashers probably won’t make a run at a major bowl game this season, but two of them crashed the expectations for power-conference teams.

Louisiana-Monroe scored a rare Sun Belt win over an SEC team, and not just a rebuilding SEC program, as happens every now and then. The Warhawks overwhelmed, at least on offense, an SEC team that fancied itself a West Division and BCS contender. Those hopes may be over for Arkansas.

Case Keenum vs. Rice: Riveting record or ridiculous ‘running it up’?

Houston's record-setting quarterback tosses nine touchdown passes against the Owls.

Case Keenum seems to be setting records on a weekly basis. Houston’s senior quarterback is in his sixth-year of eligibility and is lighting up Conference USA scoreboards each game. Against Marshall two weeks ago, Keenum became the FBS career leader in total offense when he broke former Hawaii quarterback Timmy Chang’s record.

Conference Realignment: A History Lesson

This isn't the first time college football has gone through major changes.

This article on college football realignment originally appeared in our 1998 college football annual.
