The 24 hours before the first BCS standings of 2012 gave voters -- and computers -- plenty to consider.

Last week’s BCS crashers probably won’t make a run at a major bowl game this season, but two of them crashed the expectations for power-conference teams.

Louisiana-Monroe scored a rare Sun Belt win over an SEC team, and not just a rebuilding SEC program, as happens every now and then. The Warhawks overwhelmed, at least on offense, an SEC team that fancied itself a West Division and BCS contender. Those hopes may be over for Arkansas.

The 2012 college football season is just around the corner, and Athlon continues its countdown to kickoff with a look at our first and second All-WAC teams for this season.

WAC football is officially on life support. The defections of Boise State, Fresno State, Nevada and Hawaii over the last two years have left the conference with just seven members for the 2012 season.

2011 is officially in the books. It was another amazing season of college football. As we enter the postseason, with already 25 new coaches set to take the reigns in 2012, let's look back over 2011 hand out our coaching awards for who we think, by the numbers, outperformed their coaching peers:

Bowl season is upon us, and there are several quality storylines in the early matchups.

UCLA has a proud tradition in football, but the last two decades have been very mediocre outside of three or four special seasons. The Bruins’ last Rose Bowl win? That would be a victory over Iowa at the end of the 1985 season.

The most shocking development over the weekend may be the news that Pittsburgh and Syracuse are headed to the ACC, but there were plenty of surprising results on the field as well.
