14. Boston College Eagles

The alternates shown here are pretty slick but is the best this team will ever look. The maroon tops and gold pants are a bit antiquated. And the helmets literally have nothing on them. The problem is Boston College isn't a great school to try new, edgy looks, so the Eagles may be stuck with what they have.

13. Wake Forest Demon Deacons

The entire get-up is plain. The helmet is plain. The logo is, you guessed it, extremely plain. The gold piping down the pants and around the neck and arms add some character and isn't over the top. But until a new one is created, the "WF" logo has a mid-major feel to it.

12. Syracuse Orange

It feels like this team can't decide between new, trendy, hip styling and historic, traditional uniforms. The orange and blue is a random combination of color to begin with that isn't exactly the most appealing. The blue and white stripes down the pants is nice and the shoulder trim is pretty cool but this get-up could use a complete overhaul.

11. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Tech has attempted to introduce more of its Yellow Jacket brand into its uniform with multiple bee hive patterns and color schemes. This team is neither traditional nor hip and trendy. The gold helmets feel ancient compared with the modern blue trim all over the jerseys and pants. However, if Tech decided to dress like this every week, it might be one of the best looking teams in the nation.

10. North Carolina Tar Heels

Had the Tar Heels not gone with black numbers on their baby blues and road whites — or on the baby blue pants —this uniform would look pretty solid and could be one of the ACC's best. The new white helmet is awesome. Additionally, the dark blue pants UNC wears occasionally are pretty smooth and should be used more often. The football team needs to look more like the North Carolina baseball team (with their awesome white caps) than the cheesy Carolina Panthers uniforms.

9. Miami Hurricanes

The road all-whites look pretty sharpe. And the green tops and/or green pants look pretty solid as well. But the orange tops and the extremely busy trim work gives the Hurricanes a distinctly Arena League feel. The helmets and logo are classic and don't need to be changed but this get-up might be in a need of a complete overhaul.

8. Pitt Panthers

The Pitt Panthers have one of the most traditional, unchanged and simple looks in the ACC. The blue and gold color scheme is a great combination since the school departed from the more mustard yellow-ish tint of the 70s. The blue stripes on the pants are solid and this team rarely attempts the crazy third color alternate.

7. NC State Wolfpack

Few teams in the nation — Texas or Wisconsin, maybe — offer a cleaner look than the all white helmet, jersey and pants of the NC State road uniform. Even the home red tops look excellent. As long as this team stays away from bizarre black uniforms or trendy accents, the Wolfpack will sport one of the more underrated uniforms in the nation.

6. Virginia Cavaliers

This is one of the most classic and unchanged looks in all of college football. The dark blue and dark orange color schemes works much better than others who attempt to combine those two palettes — e.g., Syracuse, Boise State. The dark blue pants with either blue or white tops look great and even the alternate orange pants look solid. There are no frills, very little trim and piping as Virginia has held onto its traditional old-school roots.

5. Maryland Terrapins

Depending on the Saturday, Maryland will either be the worst dressed team in the history of football, or when they sport the awesome all-white, state-flag-emblazoned version, one of the best looking teams in the nation. The Oregon Ducks of the East Coast, the Terps' uniforms are complete hit or miss for most. These turtle-shell, all-white helmet with fairly plain red top is awesome. And these inverted reds and whites look great as well. But pretty much every one of these silly get-ups look horrendous.

4. Duke Blue Devils

Possibly the upset of the year is the Duke Blue Devils' blue tops and white pants. This is such a classic, Indianapolis Colts-style uniform that it's hard not to like. The simple white shoulder stripes and simple blue stripes on the pants are some of the best accents in all of college football. Now, if this team could just win, maybe more people would recognize how smooth these Devils look on Saturdays.

3. Clemson Tigers

It's fairly simple, fairly straight forward and lacks all of the bizarro trendy edginess of new-wave uniforms. The orange isn't the easiest on the eyes but the logo is one of college football's best and the simplicity of the orange works well. And the Tigers may claim the best alternate uniform in all of the nation — these purple diddies.

2. Florida State Seminoles

Few outfits are as classically popular as the garnet and gold of Florida State. This uniform has remained completely unchanged for what feels like decades and the look likely won't be messed with any time soon. The spear on the helmet is classic. The 'Nole logo on the plain gold pants is a nice touch. And the garnet or white tops both look fantastic on Saturdays.

1. Virginia Tech Hokes

When the Hokies added the orange and purple shoulder pad stripes, this uniform became one of the nation's best. The home purples are excellent but the road whites are simply awesome. There is a perfect blend of modern edge and classic traditional style to Virgina Tech's newest uniform. And it makes it the ACC's best — despite the odd combination of colors.
