There seems to be a constant debate in the college football world over the best player in the country. Is it the best performer on a top team, the player with the best statistics, or the best pro prospect?

The points are piling up in the Sooner State. The Cowboys of Oklahoma State lead college football in scoring at over 51 points a game, while the Oklahoma Sooners have tallied 45 points per game.

Oklahoma started the college football year as a favorite to play in the BCS Championship Game. Texas entered the 2011 season just looking to be Texas again and rebuild from a 5-7 campaign that led to a shakeup of Mack Brown’s coaching staff.

Andrew Luck of Stanford and LaMichael James of Oregon seemed to lead every preseason All-America list.

It wasn’t even as close as the 30-point margin of victory. Last season Florida State was ready to return to national prominence, but Oklahoma crushed the Seminoles, 47-17, in a game where Sooners’ boss Bob Stoops took it easy on the opponent – namely FSU defensive coordinator and brother Mark Stoops – in the second half.
