March Madness is just getting started as the college basketball season shifts to the conference tournaments. Titles will be won, NCAA Tournament spots will be clinched or lost all over the country. Here’s what to watch in the Big Ten.

Indiana has a problem most teams would love to have.

Hoosiers fans could start a lively debate trying to pick IU’s most valuable player in 2012-13. On the one hand, Cody Zeller was the nation’s pick for preseason player of the year. He’s having perhaps a better season than he did a year ago, but he has some competition on his own roster for national and Big Ten honors.

The Big Ten has set up quite the round robin in the last week. First came a top-three match up between Indiana and Michigan, then a high-level rivalry game between Ohio State and Michigan.

Another week, another No. 1 in the Athlon Sports college basketball power rankings.

For the third week in a row, we have a new team in the top spot following Duke two weeks ago, then Michigan. We return to an old friend at No. 1 in Indiana, who defeated the Wolverines 81-73 on Saturday.

Leave it to the state of Indiana to remind us how much fun regular season college basketball can be.

Wednesday night turned out to be only a formality for the top two teams in the Big Ten.

If anything, two easy victories against overmatched conference opponents for Michigan and Indiana showed neither teams are having jitters for one of the biggest games of the regular season. Michigan dispatched Northwestern 68-46, and Indiana followed in the nightcap with a 97-60 win over Purdue.

A light week of college basketball, relatively speaking, should come to a thrilling end.

Michigan at Indiana has the potential to be one of the best games of the season, with both teams in the top three, with rosters containing Player of the Year candidates and with both playing some of the best basketball in the country on the offensive end of the floor.
