Significant Injury Issues

As the midpoint of the college football season approaches, major injuries are beginning to pile up across all 120 teams. Last Saturday saw a couple of key players suffer injuries and here's a look at how each team is affected going into Week 7 -

Kentucky running back Derrick Locke is questionable to play against South Carolina with shoulder and elbow injuries. Locke is having an outstanding season and without him, the Wildcats would be forced to lean even more on receiver Randall Cobb. Raymond Sanders or Donald Russell would get the start at running back if Locke is unable to go.

Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert suffered a hip pointer against Colorado, but is expected to play against Texas A&M. The Tigers are a quiet 5-0, but face a tough matchup against the Aggies.

Alabama receiver Julio Jones suffered a broken hand against South Carolina and is questionable to play against Ole Miss this Saturday. Considering the struggles of Ole Miss, Alabama should be able to win without Jones in the lineup. However, the offense needs to get the rushing game back on track after a sluggish performance against South Carolina.

Oregon State receiver James Rodgers suffered a torn ACL and is out for the remainder of 2010. The Beavers hope to get a medical redshirt for Rodgers and have him back on the field in 2011. Losing Rodgers is a big blow to the passing attack, with the Beavers needing Markus Wheaton and Jordan Bishop to emerge the rest of the way.

Houston quarterback Case Keenum has been out since suffering a torn ACL against UCLA, but will petition the NCAA for a sixth season of eligibility. If Keenum returns in 2011, he could finish his college career as the NCAA's most prolific passer.
