Favre Fiasco

Time to jump ship on Vikes

Time to jump ship?

The arrival of Randy Moss gave those fantasy owners holding Vikings players a reason to cheer. Minnesota’s offense had been stale without Sidney Rice and Moss’ presence is sure to improve every skill player in the lineup in some way or another.

However, Brett Favre’s scandal could put an end to all of that excitement. Should Commissioner Roger Goodell find Favre violated the league’s personal conduct policy, Favre could miss time in the lineup. Considering Favre’s actions were on par with Ben Roethlisberger’s, it’s logical to think Favre will receive the same punishment: four games.

The question then becomes: Should fantasy owners bail out on Vikings players (except, of course Adrian Peterson) before the hammer falls? For me, I think it’s smart fantasy managing. Without Favre, the Vikings do not have a steady hand to insert at quarterback. That will in turn create fewer points for Moss, Percy Harvin, Visanthe Shiancoe and the rest of the receivers. And if/when Favre returns, fantasy owners can expect another period of transition.

No one is guilty of anything yet, but if you buy the evidence, it might be time to sell whatever Vikings goods you have on your roster.
