Don't Lose the Faith

Don’t lose the faith
A number of marquee fantasy stars were flat in Week 1, no doubt irritating those fantasy owners who invested in them. But fantasy owners need to remember an important rule: fantasy football is much like the stock market – when it comes to blue chip stocks, you ride the rollercoaster when you have to.
Here are a handful of players that fantasy owners need not worry about:
WR Andre Johnson, Texans – three catches, 33 yards
Still the best wide receiver in pro football. Arian Foster is special, but he won’t manhandle opposing run defenses every week.
RB Michael Turner, Falcons – 19 carries, 42 yards
Fantasy owners were scared to make Turner their first round pick this summer, and Week 1 probably didn’t make those that did feel any better about it. But Pittsburgh defense is solid, and Turner’s Week 2 opponent (Arizona) should get him back on track.
WR Michael Crabtree, 49ers – two catches, 12 yards
Crabtree was hardly involved in his team’s loss to Seattle. Fantasy owners expected a breakthrough year … and they’ll get it, once coach Mike Singletary has the opportunity to motivate his young receiver.
RB Shonn Greene, Jets – five carries, 18 yards
LaDainian Tomlinson out-performed Greene on Monday, but Tomlinson is still not a threat to bump the second-year back from the featured role. The two will complement one another, but it can be expected that Greene will gain momentum as the season pushed into November and December – same as last year.
QB Brett Favre, Vikings – 171 yards, one touchdown, one interception
Favre looked old on Thursday. And he is – 41 in October, to be precise. But even at his age, and even without Sidney Rice in the lineup, Favre will put up enough yards and throw enough touchdowns to keep fantasy owners happy this season.
