Will Spurrier win SEC East in the Swamp

What is it about No. 1 teams in college football not being able to play on the road? Alabama ventured to South Carolina and lost. Then on Saturday, top-ranked Ohio State visited Wisconsin and the Badgers sent the Buckeyes home with black eyes. This week No. 1 Oregon stays at home to face tough UCLA. It won’t be easy, but at least the Ducks have the comfort of defending their ranking at home.
Wisconsin better be careful how it celebrates its big win over Ohio State. After South Carolina rolled over the Tide, the Gamecocks were plucked at Kentucky, who was winless in the SEC. This week the Badgers visit Iowa, a much better team than Kentucky. Badgers beware.
With Carolina’s loss to the Wildcats, the SEC East is a jumbled mess. There’s a good chance that Carolina’s visit to Gainesville on Nov. 13 will be the de facto SEC East championship game. It’s likely both South Carolina and Florida would enter the game 4-3 and atop the division. What a scenario for Steve Spurrier to win his first SEC East title at Carolina — at the Swamp.
