Recruiting: Anderson To Miami
(Mar 10th, 2010 6:45 am)
Only two members of the Athlon Concensus 100 failed to signed LOI's on National Signing Day 2010. The nation's No. 1 player, offensive lineman Seantrel Henderson committed to USC but did not sign papers. Cleveland-Glenville defensive back Latwan Anderson (No. 68 overall) has been committed to West Virginia for months but also failed to sign papers on NSD.
Anderson was then supposed to visit his "dream school" in Los Angeles but the long trip to USC never materialized. This weekend, however, Anderson did make it to Miami. He loved the visit and has announced he is committed to the Hurricanes. He would be easily the top rated player in the Miami 2010 class.
Recruiting: Henderson Switches?
(Feb 4th, 2010 7:24 am)
As with every National Signing Day, things can change quickly. Late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning, they changed dramatically.
The nation's No. 1 prospect, Seantrel Henderson, has apparently NOT signed his letter of intent. He announced on national television that he is committed to USC. However, reports are that he is having second thoughts about potential NCAA sanctions and this led him to hold off on signing his LOI.
USC will go in front of the NCAA infractions committee February 19-21. There no decision expected at that time, but Henderson might not sign anywhere until after those hearings.
NSD: Big Names Still To Come
(Feb 3rd, 2010 8:59 am)
The Cal Bears have been nearly perfect today. They stole AC100 stud Keenan Allen from Alabama. They pulled Chris McCain from Oregon. Landed a transfer from Allen's brother Zach Maynard. They should also land Gabe King as well. This could be one of the single best Signing Days for the Cal Golden Bears in school history.
Oklahoma stole AC100 linebacker Corey Nelson from Texas A&M and has supplanted itself as a top-5 class this season.
Florida landed AC100 wideout Adrian Coxson. Tennessee landed former AC100 lineman James Stone and Kentucky has had a great day with at least five new commitments.
NSD Blog: AC100 Names Sign
(Feb 3rd, 2010 7:59 am)
Five more AC100 names are off the board.
AC100 wide receiver Da'Rick Rogers is following his high school quarterback Nash Nance to Tennessee. He has been a Georgia commitment all season long but has switched his tune in the final stages of the recruiting cycle. This is great news for the Vols as they lost Markeith Ambles to USC early today.
Ohio offensive lineman Matt James has made it official. He will attend Notre Dame. This one is no surprise as ND and Cincy were the finalists before Brian Kelly made the move north.
Maybe the biggest commitment of the day so far, in terms of importance for the program involved, was the latest commitment of Sean Parker. The heady, hard-hitting, hard-working safety from Harbor City, Calif. means a lot of things for the Washington Huskies. Not only did the Dawgs beat two major powers of college football in Michigan and Pac-10 rival USC but it also shows the rest of the surging conference that Washington will be able to recruit the state of California. This is a huge get for Steve Sarkisian.
Signing Day AM: Ambles to USC
(Feb 3rd, 2010 6:30 am)
Wide receiver Markeith Ambles (McDonough, Ga.) is headed to USC. So is defensive back Nickell Robey (Frostproof, Fla.). And linebacker Hayes Pullard (Los Angeles, Calif.).
The Trojans have won the first two hours of National Signing Day and are pushing their way up the team rankings very quickly. Ambles, a former Vol commitment, followed the Kiffin regime to SoCal. Robey, a former Georgia Bulldog commitment, is the jewel of Monte Kiffin's eye. Pullard was also a late sway when he visited and became enamored with the Trojans. The Men of Troy have made a big early statement and could win the day with a number of huge names still on the list.

Marcus Lattimore Announcement
(Feb 1st, 2010 4:00 pm)
The nation's No. 1 running back prospect will announce where he is playing his college football today. Marcus Lattimore hails from South Carolina powerhouse Duncan-Byrnes High School. He is listed at 6-foot, 215 pounds and is the No. 5 player in the nation.
He helped his squad compete for state titles every season of his high school career and claimed back-to-back South Carolina Gatorade Player of year honors. He rushed for 2,314 and 30 touchdowns as a junior while posting 1,839 yards and 23 touchdowns as a sophomore.
Huge Day For The Horns
(Jan 29th, 2010 6:00 am)
Few teams will ever have a day like the Texas Longhorns had on Friday. The nation's No. 2 defensive lineman, assuming Ronald Powell ends up on defense, and the nation's No. 1 linebacker both announced they would be heading to Austin to play college football.
Plano (Texas) West defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat has picked the Horns over the Houston Cougars and Oklahoma Sooners. His father Jim, a former All-Pro NFL player and Arizona State Sun Devil, is currently the defensive line coach at Houston and could be in line for a job at Oklahoma. Should that take place, the Horns might still have some work left to do. He has been to Austin many times and is very familiar with the coaches so it will be a tall order (even for a Pro Bowl dad).
Seastrunk Set To Announce
(Jan 27th, 2010 9:00 am)
The mysterious recruitment of AC100 running back Lache Seastrunk is about to come to an end. The talented tailback will make his decision today at Temple High School in Temple, Texas at 5:00 PM ET. He is expected to pick from Oregon, Auburn, LSU, Memphis and USC.
I say mysterious because of a few reasons. First, he never really considered Texas, Texas A&M or Texas Tech (or even Oklahoma for that matter). Temple sits between Waco and Austin and is directly in the heart of the Lone Star state. Normally, that would be heavy Longhorn-Aggie territory.
Second, he has played it very close to the vest. USC and Auburn had long been considered the favorites and a brief flirtation with LSU brought them into the mix. Good friend, and fellow AC100 recruit, Trovon Reed is committed to Auburn so the Tigers still have a good shot. But it appears like USC and LSU are out of the running.
US Army: Heaps Shines
(Jan 11th, 2010 12:04 am)
The battle for top billing at the quarterback position is always a fun one to watch in San Antonio each season. This season more than ever, however, appeared like it could be wide open. But a handful of snaps into the second quarter and this one was over. The nation's No. 1 passer was Jake Heaps entering the day and he proved he is worthy of the title.
He was by far the most college ready and most polished quarterback in the game. He showed excellent footwork, a strong and accurate arm and great poise and leadership abilities. He completed nine of his 12 passes for 90 yards and showed why BYU fans are excited about his arrival on campus in Provo. He may be a bit short (6-2) but is plenty thick and strong enough to play early for the Cougars.
